Eligibility for ICWA Essay Competition:

  • The contestants must be an enrolled student in a School or graduate / PG degree program in a College / University from anywhere across India.
  • All Essays (soft copy only) must be sent to essay-comp@icwa.in latest by 30th SEP 2019.
  • The entries could also be submitted in the form of a video, with duration of 5 Mins. only.

Instructions to upload film:

1. Upload your film or video on your YouTube channel.
2. Login into My Gov / my submission.
3. In the comment section, copy and paste your film or video Youtube link here. (do not upload the film here  i.e., comment section)

Note:- In case the film or Video is uploaded on any other online platform other then YouTube, the video should be recorded in MPEG, AVI or MP4 format only.
  • The entries should be submitted along with a certificate from School / Institute / College / University where the contestant is currently enrolled.
  • Contestants can send only one entry. In case it is found that any participant or contestants has submitted multiple entry, all will be considered invalid.
  • The submitted entry should be original. Copied entries will not be considered under the competition.
  • The contestants must be the same person who has written the essay and plagiarism would not be allowed.
  • The entries must include a separate cover page carrying the following personal information:

Note: There must be no personal information on the essay paper. The essay can be written in English or Hindi language.

Technical Parameters:-

  • The file format in which the essay should be submitted by the participant must be .DOC, .PDF, .AVI, .MPEG or .MP4 file format.
  • Font used in Text in essay would only among 3 type:

  1. Book Antiqua,
  2. Cambria,
  3. Times New Roman. 

  • Recommended Font size would be 12.
  • Line spacing would be 1.15 only.
  • Paper Margins: allow 1-inch margins on all four sides and justify text on both sides

  • Number of Words:

  1. 1500 words for Junior level participants
  2. 2500 words for Senior level category.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Entries received within the due date will be presented before a Selection Committee for final selection. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding on all the participants.
  • The submitted essays will be evaluated by committee on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Central Theme (20%)
  2. Coherence & Organization in Structure (20%)
  3. Creativity (40%)
  4. Clarity in Language, Expression and Style (20%)


Note:- Any legal proceedings arising out of the contest / its entries / winners shall be subject to local jurisdiction of Delhi State.
