SSC Junior Engineer Eligibility Criteria

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) JE (Junior Engineers) (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying and Contract) Exam required following eligibility conditions are shown below in this Page.

Eligibility Conditions:

1. Nationality: A candidate must be either:
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) A subject of Nepal, or
(c) A subject of Bhutan, or
(d) A Tibetan refugee who came to India, before the 1st JAN 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Zanzibar and Tanganyika), Zambia, Malawi,  Zaire, Vietnam and Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling down in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories b, c, d and e above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the GOI (Government of India).
2. Age Limit:
  1. 18-27 Yrs for JE (Junior Engineer) (Electrical and Civil) in CPWD and Department of Posts
  2. Not exceeding 30 Yrs for JE (Junior Engineer) (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Mechanical and Electrical) in MES
  3. Up to 32 Yrs for JE (Junior Engineers) (Mechanical and Civil) in CWC and Farakka Barrage.
  4. 18-27 Yrs for JE (Junior Engineers) (Quantity Surveying and Contract) in MES.
  5. Not exceeding 30 Yrs for Jr Engineer (Civil) and Jr. Engineer (Mechanical and Electrical) in BRO (Border Roads Organization) of Ministry of Defence.

Permissible relaxation of upper Age limit as per govt. orders are as indicated below in table.

8 Years (5+3) Years
Central Government Civilian Employees (ST / SC) who have rendered not less than Three Yrs regular and continuous service as on closing date.
10 Years (5+5) Years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J&K (General / Unreserved)
5 Years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J&K ( OBC )
8 Years
Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J&K (ST/SC)
10 Years
Defence Personnel disabled in any operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (General/Unreserved)
5 Years
Defence Personnel disabled in any operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (OBC)
8 Years (5+3) Years
Defence Personnel disabled in any operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (ST/SC)
10 Years (5+5) Years

Minimum Educational Qualification:-

Jr. Engineer (Civil and Electrical), CPWD
Diploma in Civil / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering from an institution recognized by the Central Govt. or equivalent qualification
Jr. Engineer (Civil and Electrical), Department of Posts
3 Yrs Diploma or equivalent in Civil or Electrical Engg. from an institution recognized by the Central or State Govt.
(a) Jr. Engineer (Civil), BRO (Border
Roads Organisation), Ministry of Defence
(b) Jr Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical), BRO (Border Roads Organisation), Ministry of Defence.
JE (Civil)
3 Yrs Diploma in Civil Engg. Or equivalent from a recognized University or Institute.
Desirable
 2 Yrs working experience in the field of civil construction in monitoring & executive of
projects.
JE (Electrical and Mechanical)
3 Yrs Diploma in Engg. (Electrical or Mechanical) from a recognised Institute or University.
Desirable
2 Yrs working experience in the field of Electrical or Mechanical Engg. in the area of construction in monitoring and executive of projects.
(a) Jr. Engineer (Civil), MES
(b) Jr. Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical), MES
(c) Jr. Engineer (QS&C) MES
Degree in Civil Engg. from a recognized University
OR
(I) 3 Yrs Diploma in Civil Engg. from a recognized Institute or Board or University; and
(II) 2 Yrs experience in Execution, Planning and Maintenance of Civil Engg. Works. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engg. from a recognized University;
Or
(I) 3 Yrs diploma in Electrical or Mechanical
Engg. from a recognised Institute or Board or University; and
(II) 2 Yrs experience in Execution, Planning and Maintenance of Electrical or Mechanical Engg works.
Or
(i)3 Yrs Diploma in Civil Engg. from a recognised institute or University or Board or equivalent;
(ii) Passed Intermediate exam in Building and Quantity Surveying Sub Divisional – II of the institute of Surveyors (India).
Jr. Engineer (Civil and Mechanical), CWC and Farakka Barrage.
Degree or Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engg. from a recognised University or Institution
Note-I: Candidates who have not will/acquired not acquire the educational qualification will not be eligible and need not apply.
Note-II: Ex-S who have done courses from Armed Forces which are certified by competent Authority to be equivalent to Diploma in Mechanical / Civil / Electrical Engg. are eligible to appear in the Exam.
